Ramza 1

hi (this is the same,e content of my last Arabic
update)

these days I am reading an Egyptian novel called"
Ramza the daughter of harem" it was written in the
twenties of the 20the century.this novel is apart of
the extra ordinary Egyptian national project "library
of family" that aims to republish books in very cheep
prices through the Egyptian ministry of culture under
licenses of the publishing firms.

the novelist is an Egyptian lady called Qoot
elQoloob al demerdashya and she was writing only in
french- including that novel- and may be that's why
she is not very known in the Arabic literature
history.Although she is one of the first pioneer Arab
Ladies WHO wrote a literature that worth reading.

al demerdashya was born in 1892 and died in 1968 in
Italy. her father is one of the most known Sheikhs in
Egypt and he founded a soffya group called the
demerdashya way that was named after him. this lady
was known inn Egypt as one of the charity leaders and
social action pioneers before the 1952 revolution as
one of the Egyptian-Turkish aristocrats class. she had
established a big hospital dedicated too treating the
poor in Cairo that is still working until today and
carrying her name. she had also devoted a share of her
wealth as a prize for the outstanding literature
producers which Naguib Mahfooz the Egyptian famous
novelist has won in his beginnings.( Mahfooz won a
Nobel prize in literature in 1988).

this lady was raised on a very religious Islamic
way. but real Islamic way that did not prevent her
from being one of the defenders and great leaders of
social progress and gender equity in the beginning of
the last century. She got married to a man who was
less than her in social status although her great love
to him , she insisted in using an Islamic right of
woman that is really used called El Esma'a meaning the
ability of the wife to get her self divorced and out
of the marriage company . she had 3 sons and one
daughter.

she established a cultural salon in her house in
which she was weekly hosting thinkers and writers to
have open debates on major issues especially the
gender equity. she was a close friend to Qasem Ameen
the fist ever defender of woman cause in Egypt and his
partner Emam Muhamed Abdou who used the Islamic real
principles of gender equity and modernization in
general for the first time among Islam theologists.

I am going to give you a summary of the novel as I
liked it very much. it happens starting form 1870s.

chapter 1: Harem ( a Turkish word to describe a part
of the house were men were not allowed to enter. only
wives, daughters or female slaves were allowed to be)
1----- Endsha

wait for the next time

A historic event took place in the US this Friday.
A Muslim lady called Amina Dawood American- Palestinian has led the Friday prayer. What's the matter??
Well, it has not happened before. In Islam it has been known for years that EMAMAH (leading the prayers) is a male activity that no woman would claim for. most of Islam theologists think so. The surprise is professor Amina is a professor of Isalmic studies so if she did the EMAMAH she would and must have very strong religious justification for that action or else she would not do it.
I am confused my self. we have been talking about the WELLAYAH ( governance and leader ship) is it possible for women to be presidents in Islamic countries, and I am sure about my opinion that they can. What I can not be sure about is the emmamah. then I think, if that woman who knows a southand time more than me about Islam did it, can I with my limited knowledge say that she is wrong.
the other thing I am working on in my new job is the great project of developing the postgraduate studies programm for the whole university of Alexandria which has about 27 faculties and high institutes. we are trying to apply a new system to all of these which is the credit hours. don't get astoniched. that system existes actually and my master is run by it. what we are trying to do is to unify the system to all the universty in its general regulations then we'll leave it up to the faculties to put some of their inside rules according to the branches they teach.
it's a great job and we are now discussing the applying process of the project as we are done with the primary proposal . who knows maybe i'll be one of the first patch that will do phd according to it. as i'll be done with my masters this november, and as the system will be applied from next year, I think my PHD degree will be according to it.

I have just come back from france. how pretty!!
I was in marseille the magnificent mediterranean city as I was representing Egypt in the preparatory assemply of the social mediterranen forum. I have met there many delegates from various countries and cities of the mediterranean like France, Greece, Italy, Algeria, Libya, Palastine, tunisia, ect,. look at the map and you will see how many people I met.
It was very ironic that the weather in the begining of this week when I was in Europe was just great while it was freezing here in the middle east. Imagine ice and rain in the gulf while sunny in south france!!
the conference was a success and we did great and I liked very much what the organizinger did as they brought interpreters to translate whatever it was said into Arabic, English, French, Castellano, Italiano that was great and every one felt just like home.
the city of marseille is also very nice and it looks close to Alexandria and I have also noticed the same with beirut . I think there is a certain spirit that makes most of the mediterranean cities look the same. I heared the same comment about Athens ,Ladhequia(syria), oran(algeria) so yes I guess that we have some thing in common.

Today all the world is saying good bye to the year 2004, I am saying so with you guys and I am thinking weather my 22nd year was that good?
Well, I managed to finish the second phase of my master with very high marks; I worked with TIG on launching the Arabic version as a main editor. I travelled abroad for my first time and visited Lebanon which was incredible. I met new great friends like Eman Ebed, Ali Akbar, Jeniffer and others. And thank God my family is healthy and happy and we have just moved to a new bigger and beautiful house .One of my best friends got married and she is about to have a baby by the 1st or 2nd of January.
On the other hand, I lost one of my uncles and one of my cousins who was 29 years old and his daughter was 2 month old when he passed away. I am still not able to find a stable job. I discovered that one of my friends is not a friend at all. the year was a disaster internationally, we lost Sheikh Zayed (president of the Arab Emirates) ,we have a mania in the white house thinks of the world as his father's ranch, the tidal waves that killed southands in Asia, the war in Iraq, the situation in Palestine. The economic crisis in Egypt.
Do you think that year was good for me?? I am really confused.
Happy New Year may Allah make the coming one better for all of us. AMEN.
You got the power .you have been occupying these lands for more than 50 years and nobody is saying any thing .so it's ok when you are standing on your-claimed- borders and you see these soldiers of the neighbor on the other side of borders go shoot them man what's the worst that could happen .your lunatic assassin p. minister will make a press conference and apologize they may cut down some of your salary and it's over. Satisfy this animal instinct of killing inside you and be afraid of nothing. Even the big brother-USA- is shooting the wounded in mosques and torching others in illegal prisons of occupation force . So, if you did the same who can blame you and that kind of protection is surrounding you honey.. Go on.
Today's morning three Egyptian police agents were shot on the Egyptian Israeli borders at Raffah city. The Israeli army shot them with a tank shot from 20 meters distance and killed the three of them. To know further if you care go to
Any web site in the world. Read about it .feel sorry. Then do nothing.
So you better not read about anything in the world what's the use of having free media while blood is all over and nobody can stop it. Peace be upon you nation of man kind. Next step is cannibalism.

I have been chosen one of four who will make the final editing for the Arabic version of TIG website. Oh God!!
Do you realize the kind of responsibility we are having on our shoulders. Anybody and everybody in the Arab World that can't speak English will read the site via our eyes. All of the stuff on that giant website will reached the only- Arabic speakers after we -translators and editors- wrote it down. I don't think it's just a matter of honor or being proud of our language, it's also about how to be honest and accurate to deliver the meaning into Arabic the same way it was meant in English. May God help us!!
Our launching is going to be early December inshallah and I thank Eman Ebed from all my heart that she was that persistent and patient with us. Jeniffer corierro gave us a great push also when she came to Egypt last September thank you jenny. See you on the arabic pages.
Some times I think that TIG is getting more serious everyday. Why can't we rock it a little bit? Why don't we make or say or discuss light stuff besides our great concerns of the world.
I have some advices to girls about make up. Yes make up. I am not an expert in that field but I have seen these advices in a magazine and I wanted to pass them to you (what kind of a good person I am)
* Get rid of your Mascara every three month. Microbes that live on our lashes are getting into the bottle through the brush. They'd start working after 3 month so take care.
* If you have an oily skin, and if your skin gets oily on the t zone and you're out of home, don't put powder on it. Always keep one of these tissues who are full of detergent cream of make up and oil and every our message it on the t zone of your face (nose and forehead).
* If you want your perfume to stay all day long on you, spray some on your brush and message it to your hair that will make your perfume steady all day long. There are also spots on the body that keeps the perfume like behind the ears, behind the elbows , behind knees and the inner rest where you experiment the perfume to buy.
* always use the powder eye shadow as it's more stable than the creamy one. if you want to use the cramy one , add some lip gloss to balance the shine.
see you

This coffee product made me an addict. I can't start the day without having some. My father, who is a doctor by the way, forced me never to drink it before eating something in the morning. As I feel stomach if I drink it direct without food.
I don't know what I am going to do in Ramadan. It's a holy month coming after 30 days. Muslims are suppose not to eat or drink anything from done to sunset. It's a whole month of fasting. Where is the problem??
Well every year I managed to wait until the sunset to have my Nescafe but this year I have exams of the second stage of my master course in the last week of Ramadan and the exams are going to be early in the morning. As I am addict to sleep late and study late, I'll be dieing for a cup of my favorite drink before going to the exams which are five days on row.
I know some of YOU are laughing or thinking that I am exaggerating, but it's a real problem to me I feel unconscious if I didn't drink coffee or one of its drinks in the morning.

Once upon a time there were 2 people in love. They were from Lebanon. The girl and the boy got married and moved together to live in a hot african country. They were both working for an international organization in that african hot spot.
One day , the girl said to her beloved husband that she wants to eat cherry. One of that tempetating small red hevans. She was raised in Lebanon in her father's farm who is one of the most important producers of cherries in the world. The husband took his car and started searching every where for the fruit of his wife wish, but in vain. The african country was full of bananas and mangue but no sign of cherries which requires a little bit cold weather.
The girl was depressed and felt incredibally missing home. Her husband couldn't stand seeing her that way. He started searching the net, he called his father in law and all the producers of cherries in the world about how to plant cherries where he lives. He even called some of the agriculture responsibeles in the government and asked for their help.
For months he was trying and failing. Until one day he found a blossom. The girl went mad, and she became living her life to have the cherry picked with her own hands.
When it was about time, they made a great ceremony and invited the mare ,ministers and their friends and evey body even the press to see the mircale of having the cherry in that hot. The girl had her smile back and the boy felt more reliefed with the smile on her face. She became a great specialit in cherry pie, cherry jam and cherry sweets even cherry soup and cherry pickels.
see what can love do?
even changes the obstacles of nature.
would I find someone love me like that some day?? may be
Thousands of athletics, press people, audience and volunteers all together under one umbrella. Sometimes you are cheering for your national players and teams. But most of the times you're saying WOW! Look how he jumps or she dances. Have you seen these people of the marathon who runs 40 kilometers in row?? Are they humans or what? And these tiny girls of gymnastics how can they do these laps and turns and without dropping the ball??/
The Olympics makes us reconsider our everyday life!! Yeah... How can u say I am tired after seeing what these people are doing? The strongest, the highest, the fastest. They are humans just like we are but they have the will the guts the nerve the power the potentials the training and what's more important is that they have a dream to achieve.
Egypt's achieved 5 medals in these Olympics. A gold medal in wrestling (men 96 k gm) a silver in boxing and three bronze medals 2 in boxing and one in Tai condo. We were ranked 46 and that's not bad regarding that our best last achievement was in Los Angeles 1984 with on silver medal in judo of men. The nice thing is the owner of our gold medal Karam Gaber is from Alexandria and he's been chosen as the world's best whistler and he's called wrestling super star. he's 25 years old and he's a business man. We are so proud of him because his also known with good manners and high sports spirit.

I have read some thing interesting today in Al- Ahram newspaper Egypt's first newspaper. It was an article written by Dr. Hazem El beblawy who is a famous Egyptian economist and thinker. He was talking about Politics and Culture and the relation ship between them.
The French guy I mean is Auguste Mariette the first manger of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo in the sixties and seventies of the 18th century. He was so proud of the Egyptian History that he refused the policy of Ismail Basha the ruler of Egypt this time (he was ottoman- Turk) because he was always dedicating antique pieces to the visitors and kings of the world as honoring them!!!!!
Can u imagine that? Our history is given as gifts and souvenirs.
When Mariette found a very ancient and wonderful jewelry in a tomb which was a Nicolas with the holy Egyptian beetle in it, he showed it to Ismail who wasn't very interested. One of his mistresses liked it and Ismail gave it to her! Mariette went crazy and he started thinking about the precious piece .u know what he did.
He sent one of his assistants to the woman to worn her that the piece is cursed and it's going to hurt her very bad. Of course she gave it back to Mariette who put to the museum again.
But it didn't end. Ogeny the queen of France and wife of Napoleon 3rd was visiting Egypt in 1869 and she saw the same wonderful piece .of course she wanted it and Ismail said that she can take it. Mariette (as the author says )looked angry like burning hell to ismail . Ismail said that she can take it after the approval of the Egyptian government .Napoleon 3rd said and who represents it. Mariette replied that he does as being the manger of the Egyptian museum and Egypt's fortune of history is not for sale or dedication.
Ogeny tried to brive him more than once but the French honest guy refused to accept all the temptations and said no way.

We were all sad when Taliban tried to destroy the Buda's 2 statues in Afganistan and when the Bam Iranian city was destroyed because of the earth quake .u don't have to belong to certain civilization to care for it .HISTORY BELONGS TO HUMANITY.
BY THE WAY Dr. El beblawy took this story from a book written by Mrs. Noblecore who is head of the department of Egyptian monuments in the Lovre of Paris.

Yestarday, an egyptian deplomate was captored by unknown group in I raq their demands is for Cairo not to send security experts or rebuilding partners to Iraq. Aljazeera broadcasted today (as copied and pasted):
Allawi asks Cairo to reject captors' demand

Saturday 24 July 2004, 17:38 Makka Time, 14:38 GMT
Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi has called on Cairo not to give in to the demands from the captors of an
Egyptian diplomat in Baghdad.

"There is no way to give to terrorists what they want. It was regrettable that the Philippines (did so)," Allawi said on Saturday during a visit to Syria, referring to the Arroyo government's decision to withdraw its humanitarian force from Iraq to save the life of a Filipino hostage.

Muhammad Mamduh Hilmi was seized in Baghdad after prayers on Friday by a group calling itself 'Lion of God and Lion of Islam Brigades' in Iraq.

The capture was in response to comments by Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmad Nazif that Egypt is ready to offer its security experience to the interim Iraqi government, a videotape aired on Aljazeera channel said.

The Egyptian government has since clarified that it is "absolutely not considering" deploying troops in Iraq.

Hi it's me again.
what do u think. it's Egypt this time not usa or israel. what do the captores want. to leave their country in mess with no help even from their brothers in the arab countries. I am not fond of the conspiracy theory to say that they are not iraqies or that kind of stuff. meanwhile , I have no explanation for that act. For philipinees it was to take their 47 soldiers out .so what's going on here and who would get the benifit of it.
in the eighties and ninties there were a million egyptian man and woman working in Iraq starting from nuclear power experts to farmers. some of them still there. I wonder what's gonna happen to them.
